Hello from Fairbanks

Well, now that I'm on rgsb.org [0], I'd better update at least once.

We've been visiting family in Fairbanks, Alaska for the past week. It's been a nice trip. It's wonderful to see snow again. I've also really enjoyed the time with family.

My father-in-law had surgery and is recovering well. He's already bored with sitting and recuperating.

I got to go snow-machining[1] a couple of times. I fell off each time and have some bruises and a sore neck, but it was fun. I'm almost not afraid of it. Now I just need to get better at steering the machine instead of letting it steer me while I give it suggestions.

I've also started knitting again. I'm making a shawl to go with my Ren Faire costume. It's been a nice way to pass the time. Perhaps I'll post a photo at some point. I've knit before, but never actually finished anything. If I can actually finish the shawl, I have hopes to make a sweater. I figure it's a good activity while I'm watching all the TV my TiVo has for me.

We head home tomorrow night, so Monday it's back to the real world.
